The Sumerian's Religion
The Sumerian people practice polytheism, or believing in many gods. Women had a higher social position in society because goddesses were honored. Sumerians looked as the gods as almighty forces of nature that controlled everyday and everyone's fate. Gods and goddesses were thought to be like everyday people. The main concern of a sumerian was to keep the gods and goddesses satisfied. They worshiped in Ziggurats which had a temple on top that honored a god. Religion was one of the main aspects of a Sumerian's life.
